We're not the only tool that can write a summary. But we are the one built for your needs, keeping your clients' confidentiality — names are removed before anything is processed.

We remove patient names before anything reaches our AI. And if we can't confirm it worked, we tell you before anything is sent. Names are reinserted into your summary afterwards (if you choose that option).

Nothing is stored on our servers. Document content is processed in memory to generate your summary and is never written to a database on our end. Nothing carries over between uses.

A few questions, answered.

We're not yet in a position to claim full GDPR compliance — Mermaid Health is a new company, and that depends on things like formal incorporation and a data processing agreement that are still being put in place. Here's what's true today: patient names are removed before documents are processed, nothing is written to a database on our end, and Anthropic (who generate the summary) do not use your documents to train their models. You remain the data controller at all times. As with any tool you bring into your practice, we'd encourage you to check it against your own organisation's data policies and your professional obligations.
No — and it's not designed to. Mermaid Health summarises the background information you've been given, so you don't spend an hour reading and synthesising before you start. The clinical analysis, the formulation, the recommendations, the professional judgement — that's all still entirely yours. Mermaid Health just handles the admin part that comes before.
PDF, Word, and photos of documents are all supported today — covering the vast majority of what psychologists receive: GP letters, school reports, parent referrals, previous assessment reports, and photographed pages. Anything Mermaid Health reads from a photo is flagged for you to check whenever it can't confirm the patient's details were read and removed reliably, rather than presented with the same confidence as typed text.

Not yet supported: handwritten notes. Clear handwriting may read well by chance, but hurried clinical notes often won't, and we'd rather tell you than guess.
